a She-Wolf Fire in me (Emma Day 5)2/20/2020 Crying, for me, is not out of the ordinary. But cry I did, when the four women stood on the stage pridefully, passionately, wonderfully, and passed red roses to the audience. My tears fell a little too hard for me to offer my loudest whoop or cheer, so instead, I offered my gratitude. Thank you Philippa, Nicôle, Weruche, Sarah, Athena, and Christina for giving voices to the forgotten she-wolves and sharing their stories and your thoughts with audiences in such a powerful way. Your words have already dug themselves deep into my heart and lit a little fire in my chest, much like the flames in the candles that floated above these women and lit the audience they gazed at with a certain overpowering conviction in every word they spoke. I will carry that fire with me to high school, to my acting class, to my last musical at Galloway, to graduation, to summer work, and to college. I will carry these womens’ stories to other ears, and I will remember them myself. I will remember why they are important and what they can teach me and why looking into the eyes of these actresses brought tears to my own eyes. Thank you for sharing this fire, She-Wolves.
