The Ploughman/Plowman
A hard working religious man that dedicates his life to living honestly and serving the lord. He is big on dedication, charity, putting himself over others, and on this page are websites where 21th century adaptations live based on a Twitter and Tumblr page. There is as well a slideshow that was used to present this topic. We highly suggest visiting all of these pages because they all are very interesting and give you more insight on a very cool character in The Canterbury Tales.

Deliberate Actions Within our Project
Within our project, We decided to use two different medias for our autobiography and Commonplace book, which are Twitter and Tumblr respectively. We wanted to use both of these websites because each website is able to convey the thoughts of our character. When choosing a website we needed to take into account what features we wanted to have on a blog or page, which helped us decide which website to use. For an autobiography it is important for a website to have features to tell facts about a character and a commonplace book should be hosted through a website that allows our character to share what is going on in his mind and what things would he actually post if he wanted to make an actual 21th century blog. We used a twitter as our autobiography because Twitter is a helpful way to show the thoughts of our character and his simple views, we also chose tumblr because it allows us to show the Plowman’s passions and thoughts through pictures, text posts, and reactions to different parts of the Canterbury Tales.
To help our classmates better understand what the Plowman is all about we chose a Twitter to expose his surface and simpler thoughts. Twitter is generally used to spill out people’s short thoughts and give their followers updates on their daily lives and views. In The Canterbury Tales the Plowman is a character who has devoted his life to God and expresses his generosity to those around him. He is a strong believer in doing the right thing and helping others. He is extremely humble and is portrayed to not be the type to flaunt the things he does for other people. Therefor the majority of his tweets are expressing his focus towards bettering himself and God. His drive to always do better and to help others is obvious throughout his tweets as he often speaks about God and working hard daily to provide for his family. Another aspect of twitter that helped express who he is, is who he follows on Twitter and what he might retweet. For example, the Plowman follows many Christian based accounts and retweets bible verses often. Twitter made it easy for us to portray what the Plowman might be doing in his daily life and made it simple to express his feelings that he might find hard to speak out to the people around him.
For our commonplace book we decided to use Tumblr because we thought it was a good way to accurately represent the Plowman’s thoughts and feelings without being too outspoken in a way that wasn't too boastful and still represented his personality and passion. Tall though the Plowman tumblr is a website where you can not only post things yourself and use your own voice but reblog other people's posts which we thought is something that the Plowman would do, seeing how he loves to think of others. Building on that logic, the Plowman would love to see and share the cool photos and achievements that others would do. Since he is very humble it wouldn't be in his personality to go around and say his own personal thoughts but it would be more in his personality to have a small blog where he displays the inner workings of his mind. The Plowman is a simple man and there are a few key things are very important to him in his life that are really important to him, his family, his religion, and his work. We used Tumblr to show accurately portray these things about him. We displayed family through posts about others having their first children and building a family, religion by having posts on pictures of churches and some prayers he starts to pick up, and his work by showing pictures of plows and fields that he thinks are interesting or he can use in his own work. The Plowman was also a very dedicated worker, so there are posts about other people who are hard at work as well. The Plowman also has a lot of self motivation, seeing how he willingly works every day, so we included an audio post which is a good pump up and motivating song. Finally the last posts we made were reactions to the canterbury tales because the Plowman would likely want to react to a famous book that he was mentioned in. Tumblr was the perfect choice for a commonplace book because it was a creative way to portray these key things in his life in a fun and engaging way.
In conclusion, the different modes of media we used to portray the Plowman in an accurate way and express his morals, beliefs, and interests were Twitter and Tumblr. The three of us dove into who the Plowman was, translating his ideas, beliefs, and interests through modern day technology and lingo. The hardest part of any school project is to make it interesting and catch the eye of the reader/viewer and even yourself. This is why we decided upon a Tumblr and a Twitter; it is relevant to our generation and most of us can really connect with the websites. Though his little bit in The Canterbury Tales is small and doesn’t say too much, we were able to extrapolate a lot of what he was really about and how his daily life might have gone on. With the motive of expressing who the Plowman was to the rest of our peers we strove to engage them in our digital commonplace book and break the barrier between, “Wow, this is boring, I want to sleep for 10 hours and then a little bit,” and “Wow, this is so interesting, I want to know more.” Though there were challenges that came with what little information we started off with, we were able to create a beautiful adaptation that is worth a look at by anyone.
