AP English Literature Application Packet Materials + Procedures

All interested students need to complete the following tasks.
1.   Curate and submit an application packet that includes the following:

  • a printed copy of a paper written for a Galloway course you have taken in the past year that has the assigning teacher’s comments or feedback,
  • a letter of application that showcases your love of language and reading, and
  • your PSAT verbal and writing scores.
This application packet must be submitted in the AP LIT box outside of West Wing 5 no later than Thursday 23 February 2017 at 3:00 p.m.  Late submissions will not be considered.

2.   Attend a mandatory informational session during tutorial on Monday 27 February 2017 (plan on staying the whole time).  During this session, you will respond to one or two short answer questions (no preparation is necessary) and have an opportunity to ask questions about the course.

Please Note

In addition to considering all components of the application packet, as part of the decision making process, the English Department will consider the following criteria:
  • Your grades and performance in Humanities courses you’ve taken in the past.
  • Your current teachers’ insights into your interest in the discipline as well as any further information they may be able to to provide to contextualize your application.
Completing the tasks above is not a guarantee of admission.  Applicants will be notified of the English Department’s course recommendations in advisory groups on March 14, 2017.
