Jiayi did a good job explain how she picked her thesis statement after exploring many sub-topic in Tuan's work. Also, Jiayi plans to further illustrate her argument by introducing her personal experience as examples. This approach can be very effective because it not only raises the reader's interest, but it also makes the persuasion more naturally understandable and relatable.

Dianna's week four post is my favorite post in several ways. The most engaging aspect is that Dianna creates different titles for process work, workshops and ordinary weekly blog posts. It is very easily for the readers to read and find the certain post in this way. Furthermore, she makes the first word boldface font, which is more distinctive when reading each template.

I voted for Cem. I like the reasoning of his paper and the image he included as the bottom of his post. To me I think this is a very refreshing perspective that nobody has mentioned during our class discussion.

I think I agree the most with Dora's post. Like she explained, I do not think that it is the physical materials that make a place seem "special" to us. The things that trigger an emotional response are what make us associate the physical objects and emotions together.

I love Dora's idea that our sentiments are not limited by physical materials. I do believe that only with the right people and things can place be meaningful to us, which is also one of my point in my essay. It is the memory associated with the place that matters rather than the place itself.

I voted for Weiwei's blog post for following reasons. First, we both prefer using homeland as a start point of our papers because it's a more familiar place for us to describe and illustrate. Meanwhile, she attempt to further her study by exploring the impact of the bond between people and their homeland, which parallels some of my idea in my paper as well.

I like Xinxiu and Helen's blogs this week. Xinxiu shares her concerns and her way of solving them in her blog. Furthermore, she doesn't simply tell the readers what she thinks about her essay but leads the readers to get to know her essay. For Helen's blog, I appreciate her mentioning her experiences of attending workshop in her cover letter as well as making connection between what she learned from the workshop and the construction of her argument. We are all getting better at blog posting. I am looking forward reading next week's blogs.

I like Bella's blog this week. First of all, her blog is very multi-modal, which includes pictures and video. Second, she cited the sources that she used in the blog, which is a good habit to keep since copyright is a very important issue in the U.S. One problem that I noticed is that the font and color of the words need to be paid attention to since when I read for a long time, the small and light words begin to fade away...

This week I like Dora and Xinxiu's blog post the most. First of all, Dora crafted a specific and clear path of her moving experience and its relationship with her essay writing, which gives readers much more detail about why and how she writes the essay. Through this way, readers can know the writer much better because of these information shared. Talking about Xinxiu's blog, I believe she takes a good consideration about various groups of readers. She thought the differences between multiple kinds of readers can be a problem. Therefore, culture comprehensiveness, education background and so on are actually crucial element of a good piece of writing.

I vote for Dianna's blog this week. When I first see her thesis statement that negative events can have positive effect, I actually disagree with her. But as I read through her blog, I gradually change my mind, because she really provide several good points. She also mentions the people remember bad things better than good ones. I find this idea really interesting because I also have the same experience.

I love Dora's blog post for this week. In her blog post, she describes a detailed writing process for the annotated bibliography and proposal. As she said, she always misses home, but she never thought this as an attachment to place before. I also had the same kind of thought before taking this class. However, now, both Dora and I have a new understanding of place. She thinks memory makes people think differently about place, which is an original idea. Also, her main thesis will challenge ideas of other people, which I think is interesting. And I really look forward to seeing her work!

I like the post of Dora this week. Dora writes the whole writing process, which is very clear and logical. Through her cover letter, I can see how she determined her topic and logic flow. She is willing to embrace a new idea and not constricted to cliche. In addition, her idea also raises my same feeling. Thus, using personal example is easier for readers to resonates with.

I voted for Dora as my favorite post this week. I like her point that her personal memory of moving to another place confirms her thought that place is objective. I also have similar points about the objective components of place. I also find her topic about the way place indirectly influence self. In addition, the process of writing is very clear.

I vote for myself this week, because I think that my blog is the best either in terms of writing and other complemental content like images. They are all close relevant to the writing. Also I think the video i chose is really interesting. The problems we have for this post is that I feel like most people were not really pay attention to this post and just wrote something about it very casually and pretty short,.This shouldn't be a good process work for the whole proposal and bibliography

I vote for Dora this week. I personally like the description of how Tuan's, Lahiri's and Price's writings inspire her and remind her of old memories. She comes up with a different perspective to argue how are place and the self related and uses examples in books to support her idea.

I like Chris’ blog post the most for this week. I think she not only draws out a clear process of thinking but also add several interesting materials including a picture and a video. Among all the blog posts, I think it will be better if we can have a clearer layout and organization to show our topic of each paragraph in the beginning and ending sentence.

I like Xinxiu's blog post the most this time. She says that keep asking herself question is the main strategy to work on a proposal. These questions include why she choose this perspective, what relationship she wants to clarity, preventing her from deviating the core idea. I think this method is very useful on paper.

I vote for Chris’s post. I think his cover letter is a thorough summary of his proposal and the sources he will be using for his persuasive essay. He also related his topic to the act, “Pillowman”, which makes the blog post flamboyant in my opinion. Consistently, he posted a video in the blog and used a good source of multimedia. This week I encountered a lot of blog posts talking mostly about the relationship between ‘place’ and the ‘self’, rather than focusing on project proposals and annotated bibliographies. The goal of this blog post, I believe, was to guide our classmates through our proposals and possibly, our essays. So, I would expect more students to talk about the organization of their essay and proposals.

I vote for Xinxu's blog. I thought her blog post is the most intriguing because she simply go over the process of writing the project proposal and electronic annotated bibliography. Her vivid description gave me the clear understanding of her blog post.

I liked George's blog post because I could relate to it (the process writing). When I looked back on my paper, I noticed the mistakes that my partner pointed out. I had a lot of holes in my logic (and probably still do) and some ideas are unclear. George successfully engages the reader by relating to them.

I picked Cem's blog. I enjoyed reading his cover letter because his topic is somewhat similar to mine. He well delineated how he will unfold his arguments for the persuasive essay. While reading his cover letter, I also got the sense how should I write my essay as well. His image also was intriguing.
